SHAPING THE FUTURE OF FASHION

AT DUKE UNIVERSITY

OUR STORY

The Duke Business of Fashion Summit (DBFS) was conceived by a visionary trio: Sophia Yassinger, Nina Venter, and Gabrielle Perry. Inspired by a shared passion to amplify representation and diversify the creative landscape at Duke University, they sought to challenge the conventional career paths that have long dominated the campus culture. The founding team was motivated by a desire to inspire creativity on Duke’s campus, and redefine what success can look like.

Hosting an annual summit showcasing voices from industry professionals, DBFS empowers its members by organizing workshops, speaker events, and fashion shows, thereby fostering an environment where students can explore careers beyond the conventional. The club stands as a testament to their belief that the fashion industry offers a viable and succesful path for those daring enough to venture beyond the well-trodden paths of Duke alumni.
